Investing In Commercial Exercise Equipment - A Good Idea?

Author: Dean Iggo

Commercial exercise equipment is used primarily in commercial facilities like company gyms, public fitness facilities, churches, and schools. Most exercise products you can buy for home use can also be purchased for commercial use like weight machines, multi-gyms, treadmills, ellipticals and steppers, and bikes. If you are looking to invest in commercial exercise equipment for any reason, there are several things you should consider before purchasing.

Things To Look For In Good Commercial Equipment

Good quality commercial exercise equipment should stand up to multiple users exercising with it on a regular basis. Lesser equipment will fail under the strain of that kind of pressure and could hurt your client in the process. As a result, there are several things you should consider before investing over a thousand dollars in any piece of commercial equipment.

First, consider the equipment warranty. Standard commercial equipment comes with a five year warranty on most of the parts. If the exercise equipment you are considering comes with something less, or even worse, none at all, do not, under any circumstances, purchase it. Commercial equipment is made tough, and should be guaranteed tough by the manufacturer. If it is not, it is not worth the money you intend to pay for it.

Second, consider the material used to construct your equipment. If it is something like a multi-gym or a weight machine, be sure they have used high quality steel. Anything less will just cause structural problems in the long run for your clients.

You should also consider the upholstery. Remember, you will have several clients using this several times a day. As a result, if it's not a resistant material like naugahyde, it is probably not worth the effort.

Finally, read some product reviews and do a bit of research into the manufacturer. The worst company in the world can offer a twelve-year warranty on their treadmills, but it may not mean anything. If previous customers have not been satisfied, you will know this is not the company for you.
